I ran against 14-yr incumbent Republican Joe Knollenberg and almost beat him. Outspent 7 to 1, I lost only by 47% to 51%. I was told it was a suicide mission. It wasn’t. I ran on alternative energy and helping the auto industry leapfrog to advanced technologies like hybrids, plug-ins and fuel cells. Not many candidates run on the issue of global warming in the home of the auto industry. RFK Jr. endorsed my leadership on the issue in the first ad we aired. As we’ve seen with this disastrous war in Iraq, the kind of Democrat we elect truly matters. Please help to get a progressive Democrat elected by contributing and asking your friends to contribute.
