We have all had enough of the corruption, lies, corporate giveaways and just plain bad management in Washington. It is time to throw the bums out! I wish we could each give a fortune to every Democrat running in a Republican held district. But since we can’t , I have listed below a few candidates who have caught my eye. They are generally running in Republican districts and are giving the party in power a run for their money. Most are underdogs, but running good campaigns. With some of our hard earned cash- come on, we can give up some of those immoral tax breaks the bad guys gave us- a few of these deserving folks might be representing us in Congress next year. And a few of the really bad guys will be on the street searching for jobs (no doubt staying in DC to be lobbyists!). Thank you for visiting this site- and give to some Dems in the next few weeks!

Jerry McNerney

CA-11 (Map)

Jerry is running against one of the worst of the worst in the House- rep Pombo. Anyone who cares about the enviroment would give their life’s fortune to unseat Pomobo who uses his committee chairmanship to weaken the Endangered Species Act and other enviromental laws. He even tried to sell off significant acerage in national parks- something that was too much for even this Congress. He is also a buddy of Abramoff. Our guy is running a good campaign and is a stand up guy for this district and all of us.

Francine Busby

CA-50 (Map)

Francine is running for the seat of disgraced and now jailed Randy “Duke” Cunningham. He was replaced in a special election by Brian Bilbray- a former lobbyist in DC! Will the voters here ever learn? Francine is an honest, refreshing change who will truly work for the district. She needs our help to change the politics of this district.

Larry Kissell

NC-08 (Map)

Larry is one of my favorite candidates. He is truly a grassroots candidate. HIs contributions come from small donors, like us, not special interests. He spends every dime he gets, as soon as he receives it. Contribute today and you can be assured he will fund a radio ad tomorrow. Larry represents a NC district that is mostly rural and small towns. The district has been severely affected by the decline of the textile industry as factories have moved overseas. The incumbant is out of touch with the region and doing little to address the economic hardships faced by his constituents.

A real underdog running in a hugely conservative district in Colorado Springs, dominated by the military and Focus on the Family. Nonetheless, he is making a go of it and actualy has a chance. An Air Force Academy grad, he has a lot going for him in his district.

A Democrat in Idaho? Apparently, a darn good one too! A former MIcron executive, Larry is waging a great fight and is given a decent chance of winning. His opponent is even disliked by Republicans who have thrown many a negative word in his direction.

Patty Wetterling

Patty got involved in the public arena and politics after her child was abducted and never found. She is a voice for the protection of our children. Patty is running against a right wing “Christian” ( I put that in quotations, as I do not think persons with her views are truly living out the Christian call) who espouses all sorts of crazy things.

Victoria is a medical doctor, something somewhat rare in Congress these days. She might actually be able to provide sane and reasonable leadership on the healthcare issues confronting our country. What a nice concept. She is running against “mean Jean Smidt” who gained fame as the idiot who, during a speech on the floor of the House of Representatives, called decorated Vietnam War Veteran Rep Murtha of Pennsylvania a cut and run coward. Nice. She too is a radical right wing “wing nut” who focuses on wedge and non-issues to the detriment of the real issues facing our country. It is time to send her back to Cinncinatti!

Gary Trauner

WY-01 (Map)

Gary is another surprising Democrat running a great race in a very Red land- Dick Cheney’s old Congressional district! Gary is a local guy who will represent the true interests of the people of Wyoming in an honest way in Washington and in doing so, represent us all. HIs opponent is a piece of work- incumbent Rep Cubin, a volitale nutty woman who at the end of a recent debate between herself, Gary and the Libertarian candidate, walked over to the Libertarian candidate and told him should would slap him if he didn’t happen to be confined to a wheelchair. The Libertarian suffers from MS and is wheelchair bound. Who taught her manners! Another one that really needs to go.

An Iraq war vet, young guy with a good chance to win here. PA districts can really put the Dems over the top. Being a vet, Patrick speaks with authority on topics like the war in Iraq. Hard to make “cut and run” stick on someone who served.

Scott is a rancher and educated at Yale! Smart and a man of the land at the same time. A fine representative of his constituency and able to get the “big picture”. Another surprising Democrat in the rural West- he is an underdog but is running a good campaign.

A candidate with a sense of humor fighting another of the bad guys (gals actually) who work in non truths. He is actually leading in the polls. Has some wickedly funny ads that really nail the President.

Harold Ford, Jr.

TN-Sen (Map)

Wow- Harold has run a great campaign and is in the positon to win the seat being vacated by Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist. This seat is crucial for the Dems to take the Senate. A win by Harold would be historic for other reasons too- he would be the first African American to be elected to the Senate in the South since Reconstruction (that period after the end of the War of Nothern Agression). Harold’s views and positions are in sync with the majority of Tennesseans, so he is eminently electable. He comes from a Memphis political dynasty- which carries some baggage in this campaign. He is in position to win, so the Republicans are getting mean now- most notably with ugly race baiting adds that have attracted lots of national attention (all negative!). I think the voters in Tenn are beyond that now- but Harold can use our cash to keep getting his message out there.

Tammy is an Iraq war veteran who lost both her legs when the heliocopter she was piloting was shot down. She is a strong candidate, a vocal critic of the current war effort (for good reason!) and running close, but a few points behind, in her traditionaly Republican district in suburban Chicago. We need to help push her over the finish line here.

Jill is running in my home district. We are a solid Republican gerrymandered district, so her campaign is a longshot. Nonetheless, our incumbant Congressman has indicated he doesn’t want the job anymore- he tried not to run- so maybe we have a chance. Every little bit helps here!
