Leadership is nothing new for Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ), chairman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and a booming voice on behalf of working families on every issue that comes before Congress. He helped lead the fight against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, helped lead the fight against Wall Street predators and helped lead the fight for equitable health care.

As the 2014 election cycle kicked into gear-- with Republicans and their Big Business allies working to defeat him again-- Raúl remains steady as a rock:

"Every time we hear 'budget negotiations,' the very next sentence is about how working families and retirees have it too good and need to give something away. We don't hear about how Social Security has never contributed a penny to the national deficit or about how big corporations often get away with paying no taxes. It's time for a better conversation in Washington… Democrats need to stay firm: no cuts to the safety net. This country needs revenue from the richest corporations and individuals, not nickels and dimes from your family and neighbors. I won't vote for a deal that cuts Medicare, Medicaid or Social Security benefits, and I'm not changing my tune no matter how much of a hard sell I hear. There's no magic 'deal' to cut with a bunch of Republican ideologues who don't believe in a federal government that helps people."
