In 1981, Senator Edward M. Kennedy (D-MA) founded The Fund for a Democratic Majority – renamed The Committee for a Democratic Majority in 1995. The Committee for a Democratic Majority works to elect Democrats to Congress, and its principal current goal is building upon the Democratic majority in the Senate and House of Representatives in 2008.
