As you know, Steve is running a great campaign and would make an amazing U.S. Senator. He just picked up big endorsements from John Kitzhaber and the Oregon Education Association and he dominated the recent debate in Eugene. He’s stunned the political establishment by running a small, efficient operation that outworks and outsmarts the competition.

But we’ve come to the point where we must raise money to get Steve on the airwaves throughout the state of Oregon. Steve’s main opponent, the establishment candidate, has been jetting off to New York and Washington D.C. for $1000-a-plate dinners to pad his war chest. We don’t have the political establishment financiers to get the truth out — but we do have you.

I was originally attracted by Novick’s bio. I knew already of his victories in the Love Canal case, but learned just tonight of his successes as a watchdog over Bill Sizemore (hereafter referred to as “BS”). Imagine the advertisement value! The way he pushed through lottery reform for the benefit of Oregon schools (seemingly over the opposition of then Lottery Commission Chairman Kerry Tymchuk – currently Gordon Smith’s State Director)... You know he’s fought the good fight, and won time and time again.

There’s a David and Goliath thing here. You’re drawn in to root for the little guy. (Novick’s sense of humor is genuine and disarming. He plays openly with the clichés of being the best candidate to fight for the little guy. A fighter with a hard left hook, as in www.votehook.com)

Here’s what resonates with me from seeing “Steve on the stump.”

“I can beat Gordon Smith!”

When you hear this, you have a notion that he just might be right. Deep, deep down you really, really want him to be right. There’s a maverick in the race and i’m here to tell ya that Steve Novick can kick establishment donkey ass. Kick in some bucks (unless you want “the Party” in DC to decide for you).
