Let's Help Jeff Get to the US Senate!

Dear Friends,
I have never done anything like this before. I’ve never been particularly active in politics but I am supporting Jeff Merkley for US Senator and I’d love to ask for your support as well. This is a critical race. Jeff is running to unseat Senator Gordon Smith. Senator Smith has a record of voting with Bush and Chaney 90% of the time, but he represents the state with the lowest approval rating of the current administration in the nation (go Oregon!). This fact has made Senator Smith quite vulnerable for re-election. On the other hand in 2007, Speaker Merkley led the most productive State Legislative Session Oregon has seen in decades. He knows how to get things done and I’m supporting him because that’s what I think we are in dire need for in Washington DC.
Believe it or not it will cost at least $6 million for Jeff to run a successful campaign against Gordon Smith. In visiting this page, I hope you will remember that the first $100 ($50, if you file independently) you donate is covered by your 2008 Oregon political tax credit.
